Senior Business Systems Analyst

Afilias is presently recruiting a Senior Systems Analyst which will be responsible for the identification, recommendation and implementation of innovative technology solutions to meet business expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes high level business requirements and generates detailed technical specifications and logical workflows
  • Interacts with application development, architecture, quality assurance and production support staff to define technical specifications and ensure that the system implementation meets business needs
  • Creates and maintains project documentation including functional specifications, technical specifications, use cases, user documentation and user training documentation
  • Plans and coordinates user demos, user acceptance testing and product rollout
  • Provide application level user support, end-user documentation, training materials and operational instructions that clearly and accurately reflects each systems functionality

  • Ability to grasp new procedures and technologies quickly
  • Solid understanding of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

AIX/UNIX Systems Administrator - Toronto, Ontario Canada

Main Purpose of Position:

  • To support the firm’s software, to act as an application specialist in the firm’s application environment, and to provide expertise in managing systems and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • work under general supervision of more senior technical staff
  • act as systems analyst for firm’s production software
  • establish procedures for installing software in hosted and co-located environments
  • ensure adequate documentation is available for production systems
  • receive software from QA group
  • install software
  • provide advice or training to technical support staff and junior operations staff in areas of expertise
  • under general supervision, ensure procurement of necessary infrastructure (hardware, networking services, SSL certificates, etc.)
  • research and install software and systems
  • act as second level support for customer problems (on call after hours)
  • support internal and external networks
  • general systems administration, especially of software test environment
  • help maintain network-based login system security
  • install and configure operating systems, hardware, and software on workstations and servers

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • minimum 2 years experience in systems administration
  • proven facility with AIX, UNIX/Linux and Windows systems in a networked environment
  • experience supporting high-availability applications; experience with Java an asset
  • familiarity with networking hardware and software (including SSL and IPSec)
  • good familiarity with networking technologies including network file systems (NFS, SMB-based systems)
  • ability to locate and comprehend technical documents related to problems encountered
  • some shell scripting and administrative language (Perl, Tcl, or similar) capability
  • ability to research and purchase equipment and services with guidance from senior staff
  • degree or diploma in computer science or related field
  • knowledge of databases and SQL

Developer - Toronto, Ontario Canada

Main Purpose of Position:

  • To design and develop various tools and applications for the Afilias Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • design, code, test, document and make modifications to program or simple to medium complexity according to specifications
  • maintain and provide ideas for enhancements to existing code
  • prepare test data, conduct test verification and document test cases
  • guide, transfer knowledge to new programmers

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • 2-4  years of application programming and development experience

  • experience in one or more high level programming languages
  • programming languages:

NOC Analyst - Toronto, Ontario Canada

Summary:

As a NOC Analyst you will support the Afilias global registry network monitoring team to assess network and system performance on a real time basis.  Additional responsibilities of this position are but not limited to; provide technical guidance to Afilias Technical Support Group, identify Network Performance impacting events, support root cause analysis efforts and provide daily detailed reports on registry performance to management. This position requires a critical eye for detail and the ability to associate network and registry activity to performance impacts. Candidate must have the ability to communicate "cause and affect" issues on technical level.  Solid troubleshooting skills with an understanding of networking technologies and unix tools are critical to the success of this position. This position is supported by a team of technical and management resources dedicated to improving the operational performance of the registry.
